| Every french schoolchild learns "Sur le Pont d'Avignon," a song about the medieval bridge over the Rhone. Little kids hold hands and dance in a circle while singing it, like we do with "London bridges," or "ring around the rosie." The bridge is 2 blocks from the apartment and is a big tourist attraction, especially for french tourists. I often see adults begin to sing and dance again, and smile with the memory of childhood days. It is very sweet to see, and very much in the spirit of Provence. |
