| Avignon is the queen of Provence. The popes lived there in the 14th century, the Romans lived there 2000 years ago. Avignon is full of history, color, culture, shopping and restaurants. Our apartment is on the 4th floor of a beautiful condominium called Place Compana and you can see the top of the Palais des Papes from our living room. You also have a great view of the charming main square, Place de l'Horloge, with its opera house, two-story carousel, outdoor dining under the trees, artists and mimes. Every July the square is full of actors and actresses in full costume, encouraging the public to attend their performances that night, in indoor and outdoor theaters throughout Avignon. The color and fun is contagious and you have the best seat in Provence. |
